Interactive Dialogue on understanding the politics around SRHR and the SDGs

VIENNA, 28 & 29 August – Thirty parliamentarians from all regions of the world, including two Government Ministers, participated in a UNFPA and EPF interactive dialogue in the Austrian capital.
Over two days, the parliamentarians discussed: building consensus to advance the SRHR agenda; Changing population structures and their implications for the work of parliamentarians; International Law concerning SRHR and the SDGs; Gender challenges in development; Abortion & Demography. The MPs also shared their experiences in developing cross party groups and the specific challenges to SRHR in their own countries.
Speakers from UNFPA included: Kwabena Osei Danquah, Director of the Division for Governance and Multilateral Affairs and Nkeiruka (Kiki) Didigu, Technical Specialist in the same division. The participants also heard expert presentations from Christina Zampas, independent consultant & law fellow at the University of Toronto and Serge Rabier, Senior expert at VDS Consulting.
