We are thrilled to announce the upcoming 8th International Parliamentarians’ Conference on the Implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action (IPCI/ICPD), commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Cairo Conference that will take place in Oslo from April 10th to 12th, 2024.
The IPCI Conference serves as a vital platform for fostering dialogue among parliamentarians worldwide regarding the implementation of the 1994 ICPD Programme of Action. It is uniquely tailored to cultivate global political consensus on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), translating these agreements into tangible national outcomes in policy, funding, and accountability. Over 300 participants are expected to attend, including more than 200 parliamentarians from diverse regions, along with representatives from national, regional, and global parliamentary groups, as well as NGO representatives.
In today's context, the issue of Sexual and Reproductive Rights has unfortunately become increasingly politicised. Despite overwhelming scientific evidence supporting the positive impact of SRHR on individual and societal well-being, regressive ideologies have fueled renewed contestation around this vital issue.
Since 1994, there has been a determined commitment among parliamentarians worldwide to uphold sexual rights. Building on the success of previous editions, the 8th IPCI Conference in Oslo presents a unique opportunity for parliamentarians to exchange experiences, share best practices, and inspire each other in advocating for SRHR both domestically and globally.
IPCI Oslo 2024 is proudly hosted by Stortingets SRHR Nettverk (APPG Norway) and its secretariat, Sex og Politikk, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Global Parliamentary Alliance for Health, Rights, and Development (GPA).
