Regressive forces and ultra-conservative religious actors are trying to undo decades of human rights advances and impose a harmful worldview about gender roles in family and public lives. While the rise of ultra-conservatism in Europe has been apparent for several years, precisely how these actors are organising, fundraising and attempting to exert influence has not been clear. EPF has thus done extensive research and published two reports to reveal the clandestine inner workings of ultra-conservative anti-gender movements in the US and Europe.
EPF reports
“Restoring the Natural Order”: The religious extremists’ vision to mobilize European societies against human rights on sexuality and reproduction reveals that campaigners from the US and Europe have been strategizing ‘achievable goals’ to roll back human rights in Europe since 2013. Documents have recently emerged showing a detailed, extremist strategy called Restoring the Natural Order: an Agenda for Europe, which seeks to overturn existing laws on basic human rights related to sexuality and reproduction.
Modern-day Crusaders in Europe. Tradition Family and Property: analysis of a transnational, ultra-conservative, Catholic-inspired influence network. TFP refers to a set of interrelated conservative, Catholic-inspired organisations which share a common world view inspired by the TFP founder, Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira. Originating in Brazil in 1960 and eventually spreading throughout the world, TFP has long been an insurrection movement within Catholicism, with a distinct way of working by fusing social conservatism with economic hyper-liberalism and a legacy of complicity with far-right movements.
