The European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual & Reproductive Rights (EPF) is seeking a Communications Assistant to join our team for a 12-month, full-time paid position covering maternity leave.

The European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (EPF) is a network of members of parliaments from across Europe who are committed to protecting the sexual and reproductive health of the world’s most vulnerable people, both at home and overseas. We believe that women should always have the right to decide upon the number of children they wish to have and should never be denied the education or other means to achieve this that they are entitled to. 

Job Description 

The Communications Assistant will support EPF’s communications and advocacy work by contributing to media outreach, digital content creation, publications, and event support.

Social Media & Digital Communications 

  • Create and schedule engaging content for Bluesky, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. 

  • Live-post from events and parliamentary meetings. 

  • Develop social media toolkits for members and partners. 

Traditional Media 

  • Draft and edit press releases, op-eds, and media statements. 

  • Maintain contact with journalists and monitor relevant media coverage  

Publications & Research Support 

  • Proofread and edit reports and policy briefings. 

  • Support the design and layout of publications. 

Online Platforms 

  • Manage website content and updates (WordPress back office). 

  • Draft and distribute EPF’s monthly newsletter. 

Events & Office Support 

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of international parliamentary events. 

  • Provide ad-hoc communications support to colleagues across projects. 

Skills and Qualifications 

Essential 

  • Relevant university degree (e.g., communications, politics, journalism, European studies). 

  • Excellent written and spoken English, with demonstrable published work. 

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and analytics. 

  • Familiarity with design tools (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva). 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to support colleagues and work effectively as part of a team. 

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. 

  • Tech-savvy, creative, and adaptable. 

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences or study tours. 

  • Commitment to EPF’s vision and mission. 

  • Eligibility to work in Belgium. 

Desirable 

  • Background or experience in communications and/or advocacy in the EU context.

  • Knowledge of content management systems (WordPress in particular). 

  • Understanding of global health, international development, or SRHR issues in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. 

  • Proficiency in at least one additional EU language. 

  • Familiarity with AI tools for communications and content creation (e.g., for proofreading, drafting, design, or workflow efficiency).
