BRUSSELS – EPF collaborated with DSW (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung) to publish the Euromapping report for 2018, for which an official launch was held in the European Parliament. Neil Datta and Cécile Vernant, EPF Secretary and Head of EU office for DSW respectively, co-presented the findings and the importance of the report, explaining that Euromapping is an annual publication which analyses the latest updated data available, tracking OECD DAC donors’ contributions to reproductive, maternal, newborn, child health (RMNCH) & family planning (FP), as part of their Official Development Aid (ODA).
They highlighted the importance of transparency regarding the ranking of global efforts for sustainable development, revealig it to be an accountability tool on donors’ development assistance in these crucial areas. This support, they continued, is essential for the achievement of the SDGs, particularly 3 and 5 – health and gender equality. Furthermore, regarding costs, Datta stressed that due to minimising the healthcare demand down the line, for every euro invested in family planning, 20 are saved from overall healthcare spending.
