BRUSSELS – Our annual report, Contraception Atlas, a map scoring 46 countries throughout geographical Europe on access to modern contraception, launched its third edition at the European Parliament, continuing to reveal a very uneven picture across Europe.

In attendance were four MEPs: the event host, Hon. Ernest Urtasun (Spain/Greens), Hon. Julie Ward (UK/Socialists), and two MEPs for SRR members Hon. Norbert Neuser (Germany/Socialists) and Hon. Jean Lambert (UK/Greens). Also invited were two national parliamentarians - EPF President and Belgian Senator Petra de Sutter, who is also on the Contraception Atlas Expert Group, and Hon. Hanna Sarkkinen, MP, (Finland).

Overall, around 50 people were present for the launch, including representatives from SRHR organisations YouAct, IPPF, Sensoa and the European Women Alliance (EWA).

As well as a collective discussion about the Contraception Atlas results, the event included an interactive quiz in which participants anonymously shared their own experiences obtaining contraceptive information and resources while growing up in their home countries and also were tested on some surprising trivia related to contraceptive usage today in Europe.
