VIENNA – Hosted by Hon. Petra Bayr, MP (Austria), EPF Secretary Neil Datta spoke at a press briefing in Vienna on anti-choice movements in Europe followed by a screening of the ARTE documentary "Abortion: Backlash in Europe".

The petition Austrian petition "fairändern" has collected 60,000 signatures against late terminations - the initiative is also supported by the governing parties ÖVP and FPÖ. Austria sits at the core of an international network of radical Christians: in a common strategy they attack the rights of women and homosexuals in Europe.

The aim of this petition is to limit women's freedom of choice in the event of abortions. Specifically, the late abortion should be banned in case of severe disability - the so-called "embryopathic indication".

The petition has been widely opposed with politicians and women’s rights activists calling for "Not a millimeter back" and "Pro Choice is everything!".
