At the EPF’s conference in Warsaw, Commissioner Helena Dalli addressed the attendees- MPs from Parliaments across Europe- on sexual and reproductive rights.
She acknowledged the significance of the gathering at this particular moment in Warsaw- on the occasion marking one year since the radical restrictions on abortion were put in place in Poland. She commended the European Parliamentary Forum on Sexual and Reproductive rights for providing the “much-needed space to bring gender equality and healthcare to the public debate”. She also recalled her recent contribution to the European Parliament plenary- "High quality sexual and reproductive health services are essential to both women and girls as well as men and boys."
The conference was also addressed by video by Belgian Secretary of State for Gender Equality, Equal Opportunities and Diversity, Sarah Schlitz who reminded the attendees of the importance of access to safe unhampered abortion services without anyone's approval and reiterated the support of the Belgian government to the "Abortion Without Borders" initiative to aid Polish women with access to reproductive healthcare.
