EPF President Hon. Petra Bayr, Executive Director Neil Datta, and Co-chairs of the MEPs for Sexual and Reproductive Rights, Hon. Sophie in 't Veld, MEP, and Hon. Predrag Fred Matic, MEP, have jointly expressed their congratulations to the Luxembourg Government on the occasion of the new measure ensuring 100% reimbursement of contraceptives with no age limit.
This progressive measure, effective from 1 April 2023 underscores Luxembourg's commitment to achieving zero unmet need for family planning information and services and contributes to the goal of universal health coverage.
The European Contraception Policy Atlas, published annually by the European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Health, has shown steady improvement in Luxembourg's score over the years. From 60.9 in 2017, Luxembourg's score has risen to an impressive 85.2 in 2023, reflecting its commitment to providing high-quality contraception services, counseling, and information. With the implementation of these new measures, Luxembourg is set to join the ranks of European champion nations such as the UK, Belgium, and France in delivering exceptional sexual and reproductive health services to its population.
